For the first time, the GCB will give three hitherto unknown German providers the chance to present themselves to a wide audience for meetings, incentives, events and conventions (MICE) by offering them free space at the GCB`s IMEX 2005 Germany stand.
Krongut Bornstedt in Potsdam, Schrannenhalle in Munich and Region Rostock, Gustrow und Bad Doberan Marketing-Initiative e.V. are the three winners of the Wild Card programme launched by the German Convention Bureau (GCB) this year. So far they have not offered their services to the MICE industry but will be doing that for the first time with the GCB`s support at IMEX – incorporating Meetings made in Germany from 19 to 21 April 2005.
The response to our Wild Card offer was overwhelming. 32 candidates applied, all of a high standard, so that it was very hard to decide, Lutz P. Vogt, director of the German Convention Bureau (GCB), says about the success of the new programme.
The aim of Region Rostock, Gustrow und Bad Doberan Marketing-Initiative e.V. is to market special venues like castles and manors and niche products like conventions with fitness or meetings at sea more strongly and to unite meeting venues in the region under an umbrella brand. Another aim is to establish itself as a regional information centre for meetings, incentives, events and conventions.
Schrannenhalle, right behind the famous Viktualienmarkt in Munich`s city centre, is a modern event centre with a lively crafts scene, unusual culture activities and a wide array of food offerings. 40 market stands have been set up in this historical glass and iron construction where craftsmen and individualists like bookbinders, glass blowers, and chocolate makers ply their trade. All products are made right before your eyes at the stands in the hall. Hence, the market can be a unique setting for events and integrated in new event concepts. Separate food stands and an adjacent Bavarian pub round off the offerings. Currently the hall with its preserved original construction is being rebuilt and is slated to open in summer 2005.
Krongut Bornstedt in Potsdam is a unique setting full of Prussian history. Located on Bornstedter See just 400 metres from Sanssouci Palace, Krongut offers a variety of culture events, guided tours and historical walks the whole year round as well as delicious Brandenburg cuisine from the manor houses and royal kitchens. The complex accommodates 21 traditional crafts workshops – which are also open to the public all the year round.
At IMEX 2005 the three winners can present themselves to around 6,500 visitors from all over the world. The German Wild Card is part of the worldwide IMEX Wild Card programme. The international Wild Card winners will be announced end of this week. IMEX is organised by Ray Bloom and Paul Flackett in co-operation with the German Convention Bureau (GCB). The fair incorporates the GCB`s Meetings made in Germany congress market.
