Iberia is the first Spanish airline offering passengers the option of checking in and receiving their boarding cards from the web site at no additional cost. This means they can proceed directly to departure gates without stopping at check-in counters or automatic check-in machines, for added convenience and a considerable savings of time.

Passengers using this on-line service can choose their seats and print up their boarding cards at their home or office or any cybercafe, whether or not they have luggage to check in, up to two hours before departure time. The new service is valid for use with both electronic tickets and traditional paper ones.

Passengers who belong to Iberia Plus or loyalty programmes of associated airlines and neglected to say so when making reservations can do this in the on-line check-in procedure, ensuring that their travel points will be credited.

The on-line boarding card is available for all domestic Iberia flights and most of those within the Shenghen area (except flights in the 7000 series). Iberia is working to make the on-line procedures available at the earliest possible date for all flights where verification of documentation is not required. This means that passengers with only hand luggage will not need to stop at check-in counters. Passengers with luggage to check-in can do so at special luggage delivery points in the Madrid and Barcelona airports, or at any check-in counter.
