Iberia has begun the new year with the launch of two new destinations –Algiers and Bucharest. Regular flights between Madrid and the Algerian capital will begin on January 7th, in response to growing demand from Spanish businesses and Algerian residents in Spain.

The new flight will provide additional coverage of Africa by the Spanish airline, which already flies to eight African destinations: Casablanca, Tangier and Marrakech (Morocco), Cairo (Egypt), Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), Dakar (Senegal), Johannesburg (South Africa), and Lagos (Nigeria). Under code-sharing it also reaches Nairobi (Kenya), Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth (South Africa), and Agadir, Fez, Oujda, Ouarzate and Laayoune (Morocco).

Flights to Bucharest, Romania, will begin on March 3rd, initially with a frequency of two per week (Saturdays and Sundays), primarily to serve the large Romanian community in Spain.

The aircraft used on these routes will be Airbus A-319s andA-320s, which Iberia flies to short- and medium-haul destinations in Spain, the EU, and Africa.
