Riding on the wave of interest generated by Malta`s accession to the European Union, the Malta Tourism Authority’s Amsterdam office recently launched a new booking website www.malta-last-minute.nl, supporting it with poster and radio advertising campaigns.

The posters carried a ‘re-charge batteries’ symbol, inviting potential visitors to check out the MTA website href=http://www.malta-last-minute.nl>www.malta-last-minute.nl and to “Verwen jezelf met Malta” (“treat yourself with Malta”.) The website hosts a wide range of offers by different tour operators, although these should not be confused with low cost holiday offers.

MTA Amsterdam office Director Mr Carlo Micallef said that the decision to launch the Malta booking website was taken after consultation with the tour operators who welcomed the idea. “The Dutch market greatly favours late bookings, with travellers waiting to even up to one week prior to departure before they book their holidays,” he said, explaining that travel agents view the website as the perfect tool for viewing Malta deals on the market.

Eight hundred eye-catching, colourful posters which feature a couple at the Blue Lagoon and the easily recognised Maltese luzzu in Marsaxlokk, were placed on tram stops, bus stops and central locations in Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht, Leiden, Zeist, Haarlem and the surrounding areas.
