The next International Meetings Industry Conference (IMIC) will take place in Athens, Greece, 9 – 11 February 2006. It will follow a very successful 3-day event, also held in Athens from the 19th to the 21st of November 2004, which inaugurated the International Meetings Industry Conferences series. All areas of the meetings industry were deeply analyzed by many quality speakers, from Greece and abroad. The lectures showed how important this sector is to any country’s travel and tourism economy and stressed its major contribution to society and business through research, education and cultural understanding.

The IMICs are aimed at providing an annual international forum for destination and venue executives, professional conference and event organisers, meeting planners, destination management companies, meeting industry services and equipment suppliers, national and local organizations involved in the development of conference and incentive tourism.

They provide a greater understanding of key issues for the meetings industry and provide solutions for those with an interest in the sector, through top quality speakers and presentations from industry leaders and researchers.

The events serve to demonstrate to a wide audience the key role that the sector will play in the tourism industry in the coming years and will provide a wealth of knowledge, experience and ideas.

Delegates are able to challenge their own performances in attracting meetings and incentives, find new partners or reinforce ties with established clients and suppliers, identify gaps in knowledge and receive guidance to fill those gaps while being able to network on an international level.
