Wizz Air announced that it would start flying between Katowice and Oslo-Torp, starting on 19th September 2006. Norway will be the 18th European country served by Wizz Air and Sandefjord, close to Oslo, will be the airline’s fourth Scandanavian city linked to Poland complementing Stockholm, Malmo and Gothenburg.

Jozsef Varadi, Chief Executive Officer of Wizz Air said: I am excited to add Oslo-Torp to the routes from our first and largest base in Katowice. This announcement follows our earlier announcements opening flights to Cork and Sheffield-Doncaster from Southern Poland. We invite Norwegians to discover the beautiful scenery and rich history of Southern Poland for less money than they would be spending by staying at home. Additionally, Wizz Air’s ever increasing Polish route network offers even more low fares and convenient travel for Polish passengers.

Alf-Reidar Fjeld, Managing Director of Sandefjord Airport said: We are pleased that Wizz Air enters the Norwegian market through our airport at Oslo – Torp. We see this as a start of fruitful cooperation, where we together will aim to extend the offer for the summer program for 2007, either with more frequencies and/or more exiting routes on Wizz Airs wide route net. Eastern Europe has been on our wish list for a long time and we see a great potential in the Polish marked. We welcome Poles to visit one of Norway’s most beautiful areas for both summer and winter activities. The potential is great both for leisure and business travellers in both countries.
