The summer season at Slovenia`s natural health resorts started well. In the first six months, Slovenian natural health resorts were well occupied, hosting 2.9% more guests than in the same period last year, including 3.8% more foreign guests.

During this period, the health resorts counted more than 1,100,000 overnight stays, a good two percent more than in the same period last year, with the number of overnight stays by Slovene increasing by just under four percent and the number of overnight stays by foreign guests remaining at last year`s level.

Guests from neighbouring Austria showed the greatest interest in spending a holiday in one of Slovenia`s natural health resorts with 43.6%, followed by guests from Italy with just under twenty percent. The proportion of guests from Germany dropped to 12.1%, while the percentage of guests from Croatia rose to eleven percent.

In spite of the global problems facing world tourism in this period, we can be optimistic since with the exception of the German tourists, whose numbers have dropped, Slovenia`s health resorts have recorded growth everywhere a Slovenia`s Tourist Board spokesman stated.
