Finavia selects Type22 for Self Bag Drop contract

The benefits of higher check-in capacity and a better passenger experience were the reason for a Self Bag Drop tender.

Finavia has chosen Type22 as supplier for Self Bag Drop at Helsinki Airport. Type22 received a framework contract for twelve Scan&Fly units at Helsinki Airport and Oulu Airport with the possibility of an extension. Turku Airport will follow later. Scan&Fly will be available to passengers from the end of May onwards.

Fast and easy Self Bag Drop
After a pilot Finavia was convinced of the benefits of Self Bag Drop. The benefits of higher check-in capacity and a better passenger experience were the reason for a Self Bag Drop tender. Finavia was looking to  implement a solution that supports the current infrastructure and future needs of the airport to improve airport efficiency and effectiveness. Type22 is chosen because of the unique Scan&Fly features and the pro-active approach to deliver the best Self Bag Drop experience to the passengers of Finnair, Norwegian and SAS. Type22 delivers the complete Self Bag Drop process, instead of just the hard- and software implementation.

Two-stop Self Bag Drop
The Finnish people are known as early adopters of self-service and quickly adopted check-in kiosks. So the next logical step for Finavia is two-stop Self Bag Drop, where passengers first print a bag tag at a kiosk (or at home) before they drop their bags at Scan&Fly. Passengers and airport benefit because the occupation time of the check-in facility is minimum, which means more capacity on the existing check-in isles.

Unique Scan&Fly features
Scan&Fly is an intuitive Self Bag Drop solution that, because of its retrofit design, doesn’t require major overhauls of the existing check-in desks. With Scan&Fly, Finavia also receives Info&Fly, an innovative mobile application that supports hosts to deliver proactive service to passengers. This brings passengers the best Self Bag Drop experience.
