Sun hungry Britons bust booking figures

loveholidays.com reports on the impact of the long late summer. The Mediterranean and North Africa are the most popular destinations with Turkey holidays and Tunisia holidays topping the list. These are then closely followed by Egypt, the Greek Islands and Tenerife.

Leading online travel expert Al Francis from loveholidays.com reports record holiday booking figures this September with figures up 22% year on year, as Brits flock to book winter sun holidays despite an unseasonably mild October. Temperatures this week hit 21 degrees Celsius in London.

Francis comments: “We thought decent domestic temperatures might cause a bookings dip. However, what we’ve actually seen is many consumers delaying summer holidays and a mid-September rush with holidaymakers booking their winter trips earlier than normal and spending a little bit extra on a winter break.

“Earlier in September there were reports of significant drops in temperature and we believe that after such a beautiful summer, some customers who feared a potentially fierce winter ahead booked a trip to look forward to. In addition, with the sudden drop in temperature of approximately seven degrees predicted to take place later this week, we expect this uplift in winter sun bookings to continue throughout October, as people strive to prolong the fantastic summer temperatures we have experienced this year.”

The Mediterranean and North Africa are the most popular destinations with Turkey holidays and Tunisia holidays topping the list. These are then closely followed by Egypt, the Greek Islands and Tenerife.

Francis added: “With winter sun holidays costing as little as £110 per person for a seven night break, the autumn is a great time to travel.”
