This is where Britons will go on holiday post lockdown

Majorca is the most popular holiday destination for holiday-making Britons of any size (solo, in pairs and in groups).

loveholidays.com analysed travel data of more than 850,000 holiday bookings made in 2019 from Loveholidays to figure out where Brits are most likely to travel next. 

The research reveals: 

  • Majorca is the most popular holiday destination for holiday-making Britons of any size (solo, in pairs and in groups). 
  • Majorca is the destination where groups are most likely to travel to. 

Majorca is the most popular and likely holiday destination for Britons 
As many as 10% of group travellers went to Majorca in 2019 with five other Spanish island and mainland destinations all appearing in the top 10. It’s equally popular with solo travellers and people travelling in pairs too, with 6.4% of solo travellers going there and 6.9% of couples.

Looking at the top 10 locations for groups (per 100k travellers), we found that Majorca is the destination groups are most likely to visit for their next holiday.

  • Liverpudlians are more likely than Brits from any other hometown to travel to Spain, Portugal and France.
  • People from Dundee in Scotland prefer Germany. 
  • People from Luton, Sutton and Croydon would head to Scandinavia.

  • Baby Boomers will most likely flock to Spain and Portugal.
  • Millennials favours staycations in the UK and exploring the Nordics.  
  • Gen Z will head to France, Germany and Poland.
