NEW YORK, NEW YORK – Premium lifestyle hotel brand art’otel is launching two new hotels across Europe in the coming months and has announced key General Manager appointments at both properties: Axel Krueger at art’otel London Hoxton and Diego Di Gaetano at art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio.

As the brand’s highly anticipated second UK opening, art’otel London Hoxton appointed Axel Krueger as General Manager. Krueger brings with him 17 years of experience in premium hotel management. He is also a long-standing member of the PPHE Hotel Group team and first joined the hotel group as Food and Beverage Director for Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London in 2010. Following his role as Director, Krueger became the Operations and Hotel Manager at Park Plaza London Riverbank and Opening General Manager at Park Plaza London Waterloo.

Krueger has also worked for some of the Leading Hotels of the World, including St Moritz’s Suvretta House and Kempinski Grand Hotel de Bains, in addition to opening three Starwood Hotels across Europe. Most recently, Krueger has sat at the helm of Park Plaza London Riverbank, where he held the position of General Manager since 2021.

“I am excited to welcome this new luxury lifestyle hotel to the artistic and vibrant neighborhood of Hoxton and bring my expertise to another hotel,” said Axel Krueger. “art’otel continues to offer curious travelers bold, culturally rich hotels, and I am honored to lead a new art-inspired hotel within such a unique portfolio of properties.”

Set to open on April 24, 2024, art’otel London Hoxton is a celebration of art across 26 floors, brought to life by Signature Artist D*Face (recognized as one of the most prolific contemporary urban artists in London right now). It will also be home to two Banksy originals preserved and on public display. Also set to open in the first half of the year, art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio will bring a premium cosmopolitan experience, with art and gastronomy at its core, to the charming area of Piazza Sallustio.

With 99 contemporary guest rooms and suites, art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio’s new art-led opening will be led by Italian Diego Di Gaetano, the newly appointed General Manager. Tasked with bringing the art’otel brand to life in Rome across all hotel operations, Di Gaetano brings over 20 years of experience in hospitality. Di Gaetano has held roles across various luxury and lifestyle hotels within the Leading Hotels of the World and Design Hotels collections and has been instrumental in several widely talked about openings, including Rome.

art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio will be brought to life by signature artist Pietro Ruffo – known for his international exhibitions and collaborations with Dior, The Vatican Apostolic Library, and more – and lead interior designer Eyal Shoan. Ruffo and Shoan are working closely to create an immersive and thought-provoking art experience from the moment guests step inside the Rome-based hotel. The property is within easy walking distance from the city’s iconic landmarks – including the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum – and will offer a buzzing on-site restaurant and bar scene as well as an on-site art gallery packed with ever-changing exhibitions, and exciting wellness, cultural and culinary events for guests and the neighborhood.

Diego di Gaetano commented: “I am thrilled to play a role in opening this innovative and contemporary hotel project. Located in the charming area of Piazza Sallustio, art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio will bring a buzzy, cosmopolitan experience with art and gastronomy at its core to the already iconic neighborhood.”
