The Greater Cincinnati<.> Convention and Visitors Bureau earned three MIDDY Awards for excellence in marketing and communications from the Ohio Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (OACVB).

These awards demonstrate the commitment that the Greater Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau has to making this region the preferred destination for meetings, conventions and leisure visitors, said Lisa Haller, president and CEO of the Greater Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau. It`s a true honor to be recognized by our peers for work that is creating an impact in a highly competitive industry.

The Bureau won 1st Place for Excellence in Tourism Marketing in the Print Communications Specialty Advertising Category for its Cincinnati Convention Sales Brochure. The new sales brochure effectively captures the spirit of the Cincinnati community, with technology, stunning graphics and compelling copy combined in a package that at once speaks to the Cincinnati experience.

Prominent Cincinnati business leader and former chair of the Bureau`s Board of Directors Otto Budig described the brochure as one of the best selling-tools Cincinnati has ever had. The new sales brochure is most impressive, Budig, chairman of The Budco Group said. It shows the strengths of our region in a most compelling and convincing manner. Cincinnati-based Mann Bukvic Olsen Partners produced the Brochure and Iacono Productions produced the accompanying CD.

The Bureau also won two 2nd Place awards for Excellence in Tourism Marketing. The first was awarded in the Electronic Communications Video category for the Bureau`s Spirit of Cincinnati and Meeting Excellence videos. The videos were created to market Cincinnati as a lively destination using powerful images and testimonials to persuade people to choose Cincinnati as their destination for leisure and/or business. The videos – produced by Iacono Productions – are used on sales calls, at trade shows, and in the Visitors Center at Fifth Third Center on Fountain Square.

The Bureau also earned a 2nd Place award for its joint marketing efforts with the Warren County Convention and Visitors Bureau and Northern Kentucky Convention and Visitors Bureau for this past summer`s CincyFun summer leisure marketing campaign. The three bureaus partnered to entice visitors from five cities throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana to book hotel packages in Greater Cincinnati. Incentives were based upon hotel and attraction discounted offers. This collaboration of the three bureaus was the first unified effort to market the region as a whole.

OACVB`s 5th Annual Awards of Excellence are named the MIDDY Awards to reflect the Midwest region of the country, as well as the states contiguous to Ohio. Participants are recognized for excellence in planning, creativity and effectiveness of message, concept and design. The MIDDY Awards competition is open to all members of the Ohio Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus.

The Greater Cincinnati Convention and Visitors Bureau is an aggressive sales, marketing and service organization whose primary responsibility is to positively impact the Greater Cincinnati economy through convention, trade show and visitor expenditures. The travel and tourism industry traditionally has been a $3.4 billion industry in Greater Cincinnati, employing 81,000 people in a variety of fields.
