Korean bloggers put Tropical North in spotlight

Tourism, Manufacturing and Small Business Minister Jan Jarratt said 24 of Korea’s top travel bloggers are in Tropical North Queensland to report on its fantastic attractions.

Ms Jarratt said the bloggers were exploring the region as part of a campaign coordinated by Tourism Queensland, Tourism Tropical North Queensland and Samsung Credit Card Korea.

“The group is in Tropical North Queensland until September 5 after Samsung Credit Card Korea and TQ staged a competition to find the country’s top bloggers,”
Ms Jarratt said.

“Blogging is a big deal in Korea and 24 of the country’s best bloggers with wide followings are now here experiencing the best Tropical North Queensland has to offer,” she said.

“While in the Tropical North, the bloggers are visiting Kuranda via Skyrail and the Kuranda Scenic Railway, discovering native wildlife, sampling local cuisine, hot-air ballooning, enjoying Indigenous experiences and visiting a reef island.

“They are also enjoying a Great Barrier Reef trip with Tourism Queensland’s Ben Southall on his Best Expedition in the World voyage.

“This is the fourth year TQ and Samsung Credit Card Korea have run this campaign and it includes extras such as posting the bloggers’ editorials on Samsung’s Credit Card Korea’s website and production of a special 2012 photo diary, which includes pictures of the trip, with a photo exhibition planned at the end of the year.

“Samsung Credit Card Korea has also been keenly watching their company representative Byunghoon Yoo, who came to Queensland as a member of the Final 20 companies vying for AUD$1 million in Queensland incentive travel as part of Tourism Queensland’s Million Dollar Memo campaign.”

Ms Jarratt said the bloggers’ tour would raise awareness of Tropical North Queensland’s incredible attractions and experiences back home in Korea and help entice more Koreans to book a Queensland holiday.

“Korea is an important market for Queensland, with 71,000 Korean visitors heading to Queensland in the year ended March 2011,” Ms Jarratt said.
