Among leaders in this new developments has been Austria, credited as being a pioneer in the field, originally creating its initial program in 1992.

The Austrian Tourist Board says that at present it gets some one thousand `visits` a day, and it anticipates this figure to be doubled within the next year. Others who have instituted similar programs include Switzerland and the Scandinavian introduced of Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Norway and Sweden.

Switzerland introduced its websites agent program four years ago, while the Scandinavian group did so last May.

Switzerland introduced its websites-certification programs this year as well. Germany and the United Kingdom are revamping their websites and creating certification programs.
