Why the Cayman Islands is one of the most luxurious places to move to

When it comes to luxury living, there aren’t many places grander than the Cayman Islands, but why is that? We explore this question, here…

Ask anyone who has taken up a residency in the Cayman Islands and they will tell you they made the right decision. There are few places with the quality of homes, culture, beaches, food, and other luxury lifestyle elements as these Caribbean islands.

This is a bold claim with there being so many lavish places to live. But, in this post we intend to make the case that the Cayman Islands are one of the most luxurious places to live in the world. Take a look…

What makes the Cayman Islands so luxurious?
To make the argument that the Cayman Islands are one of the most luxurious places to live, we’re going to share some of the country’s best qualities with you.

Luxury homes
You can live in the most luxurious country in the world, but if your home is outdated or run down then it’s not exactly ‘luxury living’.

Thankfully, the Cayman Islands has some of the best homes money can buy. Many of the prestigious homes on the islands have a whitewashed, clean finish to their exteriors that seamlessly blends into the white sand beaches they overlook.

A typical Oceanus villa has:

  • An open interior floor plan that allows you to roam the villa freely.
  • Whitewashed walls that reflect the sunlight around the home, making it glow.
  • Cold stone flooring to cool your feet after a walk on the hot sands.
  • A flat roof that allows for sunbathing or rooftop get togethers.

There are also grand estates available for purchase that are practically stately manors. How can you get any more luxurious than that?

Gorgeous beaches
The Cayman Islands have some of the best beaches in the world. In fact, Seven Mile Beach, a long crescent of coral-sand beach on the western end of Grand Cayman Island, is widely regarded as one of the greatest beaches in the world and recently received the honour of "The Caribbean's Best Beach".

This beach is lined with luxury resorts, restaurants, shops with beach bars, and water sport centres dotted across it. There are also other amazing beaches to check out, such as:

  • Cayman Kai, Grand Cayman
  • Rum Point, Grand Cayman
  • Sandy Point, Little Cayman
  • Smith Cove, Grand Cayman
  • Owen Island, Little Cayman

Perfect weather
The average temperature in the Cayman Islands is 28°C, and is generally tropical all year round. Even in the winter the temperature doesn’t drop below 25°C, and warm trade winds provide a gentle breeze.

The great year-round weather in the Cayman Islands means you can enjoy your luxurious lifestyle of sunbathing, swimming, and fine dining outdoors all year round.

Fine dining
The Cayman Islands has been touted as the culinary capital of the Caribbean due to its fresh seafood, vibrant flavours, and strong sea and farm-to-table ethos.

It’s not just the quality of the food that attracts foodies to the islands, it’s also the diversity of dishes available. You can get callaloo, cassava, calabash (and that’s just the Cs), mangoes, plantains, and peppers used as ingredients in dishes with fresh fish and meat.

There are lots of restaurants to go to as well, from chic bistros and white tablecloth dining on Seven Mile Beach, to hole in the wall fish shacks in East End. The islands boasts a wide culinary scene that would appeal to anyone who loves food and loves luxury.

Boundless recreational activities
As we mentioned earlier in this post, the weather in the Cayman Islands is warm all year round. This leaves you with a lot of time to try out the various recreational activities the islands have to offer.

You can go sailing, horse riding, swimming, scuba diving, golfing, and get involved in any other recreational activity you can think of. There’s no better place to take up a luxurious new hobby than the Cayman Islands.

Arts and culture
There is a huge love for arts and culture in the Cayman Islands which the government actively encourages through the non-profit Cayman National Cultural Foundation (CNCF). This oversees several aspects of arts and culture development on the islands.

There’s also the National Gallery Cayman Islands (NGCI) which is an inclusive gathering place that honours the Cayman Islands’ artistic heritage, celebrates the art, and seeks to provide inspiring learning experiences for their diverse citizens.

And the culture scene doesn’t end there; you can also get involved in the:

  • Cayman Islands International Film Festival (CayFilm)
  • Cayman National Orchestra
  • Cayman Drama Society
  • Cayman National Choir
  • Cayman National Dance Company
  • Cayman Traditional Art
  • Visual Arts Society
  • Various National Trust sites

Unique experiences
The Cayman Islands are home to some unique experiences that you can’t find anywhere else in the world. Two of the more exclusive experiences are Stingray City and nighttime kayaking.

Stingray City is a sandbar located approximately 20 minutes off the shores of the Grand Cayman, where wild stingrays congregate together. These stingrays are accustomed to humans so you can stand waist deep in the water and have them swim around your legs for a truly unforgettable experience.

Night-time kayaking is another unique experience where you can take a tour to see the spectacular bioluminescence, a natural phenomenon only found in a handful of places across the world.
