REPORT FROM BERLIN – ITB 2004 – The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) unveiled during the ASTA International Member Luncheon held at the ITB Berlin World Tourism Forum its latest home-study course, the USA Travel Expert. The new course is geared for international travel professionals interested in selling the United States as a tourist destination. Available on CD-ROM, the home-study program was written by noted industry author Sue Wilder, CTC, and developed in conjunction with the Travel Institute, with contributions from the Travel Industry Association of America (TIA).



We are extremely excited to be able to offer a home-study course that teaches travel professionals both domestically and internationally how to become experts on selling the United States as a tourist destination, said Richard M. Copland, CTC, ASTA president and CEO.The United States is a wonderful country that can potentially be an amazing source of revenue for international travel agents who become experts on everything the U.S.A. has to offer travelers.



The USA Travel Expert home-study course is the first program ASTA has created solely on CD-ROM. The comprehensive program features in-depth information about specific regions and states, as well as practical information about transportation, accommodations, dining, culture and basic geography. The CD-ROM also has maps, points of interest and contact information for tourism offices.
