Accuvia, the International Hotel & Restaurant Association (IH&RA) and Amsterdam RAI jointly announced that HOSTEC-EURHOTEC AMSTERDAM 2005 to be held alongside of the Horecava show, has been cancelled due to weaker than expected Exhibitor support.
HOSTEC-EURHOTEC AMSTERDAM 2005 Horecava was launched as a separate, but sister event alongside Horecava at the same location. HOSTEC-EURHOTEC AMSTERDAM focused on the international hospitality technology audience, while technology suppliers focused primarily in the Benelux Region were exhibiting at Horecava`s main exhibition hall next door. Unfortunately, this is clearly a situation where dividing is not conquering, said Robert Grimes the Chairman and CEO of Accuvia. He further added; if the exhibitors of both events were to have been combined under one technology area, this would have provided a very strong HOSTEC-EURHOTEC AMSTERDAM exhibitor base. Susanna Goossens-Hylkema the Event Director for Horecava remarked; we are sorry to see that the HOSTEC-EURHOTEC AMSTERDAM 2005 concept has not worked out as we originally envisioned. We all felt that we could not guarantee a high quality event mainly because exhibitors stayed behind.
Alain-Philippe Feutre the CEO of IH&RA commented; the original concept of HOSTEC-EURHOTEC was to rotate each year between the U.K. and the Continent to be a truly Pan-European event. This plan stays in place for 2006 as HOSTECEURHOTEC returns to London where the 2004 event attracted close to 7,000 visitors making it one of the best attended technology events focused on the hospitality and foodservice industries in the world.
The organizers are now looking into other forms of collaboration for the future. One of the possibilities is a HOSTEC MARKETPLACE @ Horecava 2006. This is done at the HOSTEC MARKETPLACE @ Hospitality 2005 (24th to 26th of January) in Birmingham and at HOSTEC-ASIA @ HOFEX 2005 (10th to 13th of May) in Hong Kong. At both of these events, all technology related exhibitors are within a single technology-specific area. Already, the HOSTEC MARKETPLACE @ Hospitality in Birmingham has been oversold and a second HOSTEC technology exhibition area has been added.
Companies that already contracted for HOSTEC-EURHOTEC AMSTERDAM 2005 have the opportunity to move inside the main exhibition halls of Horecava. The participation for Horecava – the Benelux national event for the hospitality and catering industries is above expectations.
