In cooperation with Ascend Media, the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) has prepared HSMAI’s Sourcebook for Meeting Planners 2005, a valuable and effective resource for meeting planners.

“Meeting planners will find this guide extremely useful and beneficial as they organize events in the future, regardless of their level of experience,” said Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHA, president and CEO of HSMAI.

The comprehensive Sourcebook features articles from 10 of the numerous outstanding educational seminars that were offered during HSMAI’s Affordable Meetings® 2004 shows in Washington, D.C., Chicago, and Long Beach, CA. The summaries are based on conversations with the expert speakers who shared their insights and ideas for generating more profitable and productive meetings.

The articles cover vital and fundamental topics for meeting planners such as hot technologies, budgeting, how to measure your meeting using Meetings Metrics, communication skills, what to know about site selection, negotiation techniques, tips on what to make sure is included in a contract, marketing your meeting, food and beverage, risk management, contingency planning and on-site meeting management.

In addition, the Sourcebook contains a listing of a variety of meeting facilities, convention and visitors bureaus, and an impressive assortment of other meeting products and services. The listings are arranged alphabetically by state, city, or region and include descriptions, addresses, telephone numbers, fax numbers, e-mail addresses, and Web sites.

Designed to assist meeting planners throughout the year, the 2005 Sourcebook will be available in early December and is free of charge to any registrant from the 2004 HSMAI’s Affordable Meetings® shows. To request a copy of the 2005 Sourcebook or for exhibitor information at future shows, contact Beth Petersen, show manager, GLM, Ten Bank Street, White Plains, NY 10606-1954, or call (914) 421-3377; fax (914) 948-2918; e-mail: beth_petersen@glmshows.com.
