The recently-formed Middle East Business Aviation Association (MEBAA) is to hold its inaugural members’ conference this week to kick start a strategy aimed at promoting the organisation’s goals of enhancing safety, security, efficiency and sector expansion throughout the region.

The Middle East Business Aviation Association (“MEBAA” or the “Association”) is to be headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates under the procedures established by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

MEBAA was launched earlier this year with a founding member base of Bexair of Bahrain, Gulfstream Aerospace, Jet Aviation, JetEX, Saudi Arabia’s National Air Services and Abu Dhabi-headquartered Royal Jet, with the recent addition of Boeing and Airbus.

The initial founding members nominated Ali Ahmed Al Naqbi, Vice President of Finance and Administration for Abu Dhabi-based Amiri Flight, as the Founding Chairman of the association and the person responsible for carrying forward the association until the vote at the First Annual Meeting.

Describing the formation as “a long, over-due initiative,” Ali Ahmed Al Naqbi said the Association is rapidly picking up steam.

“What we lacked in our start-up timetable, the Association will make up in its commitment and delivery to a business sector and a region which is now determined to be a genuine professional value-addition to the business aviation community worldwide,” he said.

MEBAA plans to become involved in global aerospace events spreading the region’s influence on the international business aviation scene.

“We look forward to our members being key speakers at major events overseas and taking recognition of the business opportunities in the Middle East to new heights,” said Al Naqbi.

“The Middle East is a strategic region for the business aviation sector and needs to be correctly positioned as a prime operations hub to reach developing markets westwards towards Europe and Africa and eastwards to India, South Asia and China.”
