National Limousine Association applauds bipartisan effort against congestion pricing

Transportation Authority commends new Anti-Congestion Tax Act.

MARLTON, N.J. – In response to the MTA’s congestion pricing plan, U.S. representatives Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) and Mike Lawler (R-NY) recently announced the Anti-Congestion Tax Act. The legislation would block the U.S. Department of Transportation from providing any new capital investment grants to MTA projects until drivers from New Jersey and New York would receive exemptions from congestion taxes. In addition, it would change the U.S. Tax Code to give commuters a federal tax credit at the end of the year. The National Limousine Association (NLA), the organization responsible for and dedicated to representing the interests of the chauffeured transportation industry, ardently supports this bill as it impacts all drivers and consumers coming in and out of New York City for business and leisure.

National Limousine Association President Robert Alexander has issued the following statement: “The NLA applauds U.S. representatives Gottheimer and Lawler for their efforts against congestion pricing in New York. This important piece of legislation directly addresses the damaging effects congestion pricing would have on all drivers both locally and nationally. We urge the Senate to act quickly to ensure this crucial legislation is signed into law.”
