Registration opens for AIPCO Business Tourism Conference

AIPCO is the largest association of its kind on the Island of Ireland with all the major PCOs now members, and the conference will see the leading figures of the industry in attendance.

Registration has opened for the 1st AIPCO (Association of Irish Professional Conference Organisers) Business Tourism Conference. Taking place on March 7th, 2013, in the Clyde Hotel, the one-day conference, based on the theme ‘Collaboration Wins Business’, will feature plenary sessions with international speakers, one to one mentor sessions, followed by interactive workshops and ending with a networking dinner.

AIPCO is the largest association of its kind on the Island of Ireland with all the major PCOs now members, and the conference will see the leading figures of the industry in attendance. The main body of delegates will be professionals working in the regional convention bureau, hotels, venues, restaurant and service areas.

“The conference really has two main focusses. Firstly, within the industry, how do we win more business for Ireland and what do we need to do together to achieve this objective?” said Jean Evans, Chair of AIPCO. “Secondly, how can we collaborate effectively with industry and academic figures in Ireland to bring major conferences, and therefore some of the finest minds in the world, to these shores.”

The six Interactive Workshops are designed to appeal to both the business tourism professional and those wishing to bring a major association conference to Ireland. With the success of the Conference Ambassador programme, managed by Failte Ireland, a key aspect of the workshops will be to demonstrate the steps required to bid for a conference, what it takes to organise and how to make it a success.

“For a successful business tourism industry, it’s absolutely vital to work with leading figures across all industries to help them bring their associations to the country” said Susan Nolan, Vice Chair of AIPCO. “Their capacity to connect with world leaders, along with our abilities and Ireland’s facilities, is a powerful combination.”
