Delegates at the upcoming SITE<.> University will be hearing some candid observations that question business "truths and theories." Speakers selected to open and close the educational program, sponsored by the Society of Incentive & Travel Executives (SITE), will focus audience attention on business survival issues relevant for today's business environment. SITE University will be held June 9-12 at the Melia Cancun Convention Center Beach & Spa Resort.

"Truth and Lies in the New Economy" is just the provocative topic necessary to open SITE University during a period of profound industry flux. Business journalist and best-selling author Ron Lieber will share insights gained from his front-row perspective covering the "new economy" business revolution.

Lieber, the youngest person in the history of Time, Inc. to write a cover story, has documented the most exciting period in business (and business journalism) history for both Fortune and Fast Company. In 1999, his work was lauded when he was named one of the "30 Best Business Journalists Under 30."

Lieber's presentation is designed to dissect the predictions and assumptions surrounding "new economy" business. He will then turn his critically trained eye on the incentive industry as he examines the myths perpetuating in the incentive marketplace and provide needed data for surviving in this chaotic period.

While Ron Lieber's presentation will examine business issues, that, in some cases, have gained too much attention, SITE University will close with an examination of critical business areas often neglected.

Doyle J. Girouard, CEO and senior managing partner, The Cypress Group, will conclude the educational component of SITE's 2002 SITE University on Tuesday, June 11, with "Building a Business Below the Top Line." With nearly 30 years spent leading organizations through start-up, turnaround, crisis management, and high growth business cycles, Girouard has had ample opportunity to assess the business functions that serve as cornerstones for success. His advice has been sought after by such organizations as the United Nations and the Asia Pacific Economic Council.

Girouard has observed that in the start-up phase, organization's focus on customers, sales, marketing, and financials. He believes that businesses neglect back office functions that are necessary to ensure the operational efficiency to move the company forward. In his session, Girouard will present strategies to develop and integrate the effective processes that provide a foundation for business success.

In between these two stimulating presentations, SITE will present nearly 50 hours of concurrent educational workshops. Topics covered during the multi-day program include: sales & marketing management, legal issues, destination, marketing, information technology, incentive program development, security concerns for incentive events, and professional development issues.

Additionally, attendees can sign up for mentoring sessions with industry veterans. These specially priced sessions allow delegates to receive consultative advice on their specific business/career issues.
