Kenya is committed to golf tourism at FITUR’09

Golf tourism will be the main attraction on show at the Kenya stand at FITUR’09, offering 39 courses distributed throughout the country. Of course the country will also be promoting its beaches and large offering of water sports and traditional safaris. Visitors to the Kenya stand at FITUR/09 will discover the country/s wide range of possibilities for all types of photographic safaris, but at this edition, the country will also present its sun and beach tourism and in particular, golf, a product which, according to the Kenyan tourism representatives, offers great possibilities in markets such as the Spanish one, with many attractions.

Kenya offers golf lovers 39 golf courses distributed throughout the country, 12 of which host large international championships. Golf clubs and hotels are characterised by the high quality of their services. The warm local temperature, with an average of 10 hours of sunshine a day, makes Kenya an ideal location to play golf at any time of the year, thus helping the deseasonalisation of this product.

The varied landscape also enables the golfer to enjoy this country’s unique locations, with courses located 1500 metres high and surrounded by rich fauna and flora. In Kenya, the traveller can find coastal lowlands with tropical vegetation to mountainous regions, plateaus or areas of volcanic earth with fertile zones, which are ideal for agriculture and where the majority of the population is concentrated.

Professionals attending FITUR’09 can also discover the many alternatives to golf tourism in Kenya, such as traditional safaris, magnificent beaches where you can enjoy all types of water sports, coral reefs, National Parks and Reserves and historical cities such as the capital Nairobi, or ancient Swahili cities such as Lamu.
