A new connection between Singapore Changi airport and India

Singapore Changi Airport’s air network to India has been further expanded with the addition of Ahmedabad

Singapore Changi Airport’s air network to India has been further expanded with the addition of Ahmedabad in Gujarat being its latest and tenth link to India. Ahmedabad is India’s sixth most populous city, after Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai, which are already linked to Changi Airport. Changi is also connected to Hyderabad, Jaipur, Cochin and Trivandrum.

These ten Indian cities are served by five passenger carriers at Changi AirportAir India, Indian Airlines, Royal Brunei Airlines, Silkair and Singapore Airlines. They operate more than 90 weekly passenger services between Singapore and India.

The increase in Changi’s flight connections with India is in tandem with the growth in two-way trade between Singapore and India. Fresh official trade data show that within the first six months of 2004, bilateral trade grew 54.3 per cent.

To commemorate this latest city link to Ahmedabad, launched today by Singapore Airlines, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore is giving out 20,000 fabric coasters to departing passengers throughout the day. The colourful coasters with Indian motifs reflect the heritage and culture of Ahmedabad, also known as the Manchester of the East for its thriving textile industry.

Changi Airport is served by over 70 airlines providing more than 3,500 weekly scheduled flights to 160 cities in more than 50 countries.
