This summer, travelers could choose from a range of 13 destinations, with three airlines. September was the best month ever at the airport with 35,407 passengers.

Antwerp Airport recorded a record number of passengers this summer. In July, August, and September, the airport welcomed 101,256 travelers, an increase of 0.2% compared to 2019.

Never before has the airport welcomed more passengers in the summer months than this year. In total, 101,256 passengers traveled via our airport. With this, the airport surpasses the figures of 2019 (pre-covid), when the airport welcomed 0.2% fewer travelers during summer.

The increase is mainly due to the deployment of new, more fuel-efficient TUI fly aircraft with a larger capacity and their expanded summer schedule with new destinations such as Antalya, Crete, and Tenerife.

ASL Fly Executive and Luxair also contributed to these record figures for Antwerp Airport. ASL Fly Executive offered two flights a week to Ibiza, while Luxair flew to London City Airport four times a week. From the end of October, Luxair will further increase the number of flights to the British capital.

“Never before have so many passengers traveled through our airport in the summer months. This is proof of the hard work and unwavering belief in our airport,” explains CEO Eric Dumas. “We are grateful to our passengers and always do everything we can to make their travel experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.”

Business flights

The airport also sees significant growth in the business segment. Compared to the 2019 figures, there has been an increase of 8.6% in flight movements of business jets. “This positive development underlines the added economic value that the airport offers to the region.”
