On June 22, 2003, Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) opened service to four new stations, including one at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The 8.7 mile extension makes trips into the City and back faster and cheaper.

Travelers are now able to board BART at the new International Terminal at SFO and reach the downtown stations in 28 minutes. To reach the BART station from the Domestic Terminals, SFO`s new AirTrain system provides a fast, free ride from nine stops throughout the airport. Trains depart the airport every 15 minutes (every 20 minutes on weekends).

Moscone Convention Center and Moscone West, the new convention center expansion, is just 2.5 blocks from the Powell Street BART station. More than 18,000 hotel rooms are located within walking distance of the Moscone Center.

Other new stations include Millbrae (with connections to CalTrain and San Mateo County`s SamTrans), San Bruno and South San Francisco. BART lines extend throughout the Bay Area, connecting to cities such as Oakland, Berkeley, Walnut Creek, Fremont, Pleasanton and Richmond.

taxis, limousines and door-to-door shuttles are still available and may be preferable for those traveling with larger amounts of luggage.
