Continental Airlines applauds the International Air Transport Association`s (IATA) recent announcement to commit to 100-percent implementation of eTicketing by the end of 2007.

We are extremely enthusiastic of IATA`s paperless initiative, said David Grizzle, Continental`s senior vice president of marketing strategy and corporate development. Achieving 100-percent eTicketing throughout the international aviation industry will eliminate unnecessary costs for the airlines and add more convenience and value for the customer.

In April 2004, Continental Airlines announced plans to eliminate paper tickets for all travel on the airline,

including interline (multi-carrier) paper tickets. As part of this program, Continental today terminated interline ticketing and baggage agreements with an additional 10 carriers that are not able to support eTicketing interline capabilities. Earlier this month, Continental terminated interline ticketing and baggage agreements with 45 carriers that were not able to support interline eTickets.

Continental is an industry leader in interline eTicket technology and has 24 eTicket partners implemented or planned. Currently, 97 percent of Continental`s domestic customers and 90 percent of its systemwide customers are traveling on eTickets. eTickets are valid at all of the 268 airports served by Continental around the world. In addition, Continental has 801 eService Center self-check-in kiosks in all of the airline`s airport terminals in the continental United States.
