Egypt and Syria are to increase links in aviation, having also signed a number of agreements with Egypt to train Syrian aviation engineers, technicians and inspectors.

This was announced by the Syrian Minister of Transport, Mekrem Ebeid, in his interview with the Ba`ath magazine.

He also noted that Syrian participation in last weeks of Sharm el-Sheikh aviation exhibition was useful, especially given that he was able to examine a number of different small planes, aviation products, passenger utilities and advertising equipment.

The Syrian Transport Ministry called for plans to hold an aviation exhibition in Syria next year, given the evident benefit to tourism and economy, Ebeid said.

He also highlighted the need for Syrian and Middle Eastern companies to set out a strategy to implement the air-taxi project, as well as establishing small aviation companies to transport the tourists.
