As part of the agreement, Pret will open three more shops across airports in Mykonos, Kos and Zakynthos in time for the start of the 2024 summer season, offering travellers Pret’s extensive menu of freshly-made sandwiches, salads, hot food options, snacks, baked goods and hot and cold Barista-made drinks.

Pret-A-Manger

Pano Christou, Chief Executive Officer at Pret A Manger, said:We are excited to bring the Pret brand to Greece. Greek cuisine is famous all over the world for its many beloved local dishes, many of which have inspired the products we offer at Pret. In partnership with SSP and Fraport Greece, we can’t wait to bring the first Pret shop to Greece in Thessaloniki airport, offering locals and visitors to the country our great tasting freshly made food and organic coffee when visiting Thessaloniki airport”.

George Vilos, Executive Director, Commercial and Business Development, at Fraport Greece, said: “We are very pleased with the results of our efforts to pioneer once more by offering new gastronomy related experiences to our passengers. As we did in 2018 by bringing in the Greek market popular and well- established international brands, we welcome now in Greece the world-renowned Pret A Manger chain, that has a presence in 15 countries, further enriching the F&B options offered at our airports”.

SSP

Mark Angela, Chief Business Development & Strategy Officer, CEO India, EEME at SSP said; “We are pleased to announce the opening of the first four Pret A Manger units in Greek airports. With our strong range of bespoke, local, and international brands as well as our in-depth understanding of the needs of international and local passengers, we aim to create an environment that mirrors the true spirit of hospitality which is part of the Greek culture. The addition of a much-loved brand such as Pret A Manger enhances our position in this important market and elevates the passenger experience. SSP Hellas has operated in Greece since 1999 and grown its presence to eight airports across the country (Athens, Thessaloniki, Corfu, Zakynthos, Rhodes, Chania, Mykonos, and Kos).”

Pret now operates in 16 markets on three continents and expects to have 700 shops worldwide by the end of 2023. Last month, Pret announced the opening of its first shop in Barcelona, as part of its ambition to open 70 shops in Spain and Portugal over the next decade.

Earlier this year, Pret announced that half year revenue in 2023 reached £429.9m, growing by 20.2% compared with the same period in 2022. International expansion has been a key driver of this growth, with international sales now accounting for 18.9% of Pret’s revenue.
