Pulkovo Airport increases passenger traffic by 8.6% for the eight months of 2019

The number of passengers on domestic flights grew by 11.1% to 8,077,219 passengers. International traffic increased by 4.9% and amounted to 5,118,121 passengers.

In January-August 2019, Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport welcomed 13,195,340 passengers, which is 8.6% more than in the same period of 2018.

In January-August 2019, Pulkovo Airport handled 113,456 take-off and landing operations, which is an increase of 2.6% year-on-year.

In January-August 2019, Rossiya Airlines, Aeroflot, Pobeda, S7 Airlines, and Ural Airlines were the largest Russian carriers in terms of passenger numbers at Pulkovo. In total, they provided services to 7,986,387 passengers at St. Petersburg airport or 60.5% of the total traffic for that period. Among foreign airlines, Lufthansa, Uzbekistan Airways, Belavia, Finnair, and Turkish Airlines became the leaders at Pulkovo Airport for the 8-month period of 2019. In total, they handled 932,055 passengers at St. Petersburg airport or 7.1% of the airport traffic in January-August 2019.

In August 2019, 2,221,090 passengers traveled through Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport, a number 5.8% higher than in the same month of 2018.

The number of passengers on domestic flights grew by 6.4% to 1,266,909 passengers. International traffic increased by 5% and amounted to 954,181 passengers.

In August 2019, Pulkovo Airport handled 16,542 take-off and landing operations, which is an increase of 1.1% year-on-year.

In August 2019, Rossiya Airlines, Aeroflot, S7 Airlines, Pobeda, and Ural Airlines were the largest Russian carriers in terms of passenger numbers at Pulkovo. In total, they provided services to 1,269,572 passengers or 57.2% of the total traffic at St. Petersburg Airport for that period. Among foreign airlines, the leaders were Lufthansa, Belavia, Turkish Airlines, Uzbekistan Airways, and Finnair. In total, they handled 155,163 passengers at Pulkovo or 7% of the airport traffic in August 2019.

Pulkovo St. Petersburg Airport is the fourth airport in Russia in terms of passenger numbers. In 2019, St. Petersburg airport, for the fourth year in a row, became the winner of the national ‘Air Gates of Russia’ award, according to the passengers’ votes. Since 2010, Northern Capital Gateway LLC has been the main operator of Pulkovo implementing  the airport reconstruction and development project under the public-private partnership agreement with the city St. Petersburg.
