Top five bucket list destinations for your next cruise

Here are some of the best destinations to include in your bucket list.

If you’ve started dreaming about your next cruise line adventure, there’s no time like to present to start making plans. With a cruise, there are some beautiful places to visit and some incredible experiences to enjoy. From ports full of natural wonders to the latest up-and-coming hotspots, there’s always something new and exciting to explore.

Whatever types of world cruises getaway you’re looking for, here are some of the best destinations to include in your bucket list.

Alaska
People travel to Alaska to enjoy its majestic wildlife, breathtaking glaciers, and wild terrain. It’s no wonder so many people consider it the best cruise destination.

Choose a cruise that sails through the Inside Passage and you’ll get up close to enormous, blue-white glaciers. With a hot chocolate in hand you’ll also be able to watch blocks of ice calve off the Hubbard Glacier and feel the thunderous rumble in the pit of your stomach.

Cities you can explore during an Alaskan cruise include Juneau and Skagway. Why not try your hand at dog sledding or join a whale-watching tour. In Ketchikan, you’ll be able to hop on a bike and ride through a rainforest or admire some of the ancient totem poles.

Southern Japan
Take a cruise to Japan and you’ll discover what a fascinating country it is. The natural beauty is breathtaking, the cuisine delectable, and its history is fascinating.

A cruise to Japan will include some time in Tokyo where you can marvel at the fascinating combination of technology and modern design. It blends in perfectly with the ancient architecture and tradition.

If you want more from your Japanese cruise, visit the ports of Horishima and Nagasaki and learn about the poignant history of these places. For something a little more lighthearted, there’s Okinawa, where you can explore a cultural theme park or an ancient cave. Alternatively, learn about sake when you visit a brewery in Kochi.

The Panama Canal
It might not be the first destination that pops into your thoughts, but this masterpiece of engineering has some sights that make it a unique destination for a bucket list cruise.

The intricate lock systems and design that has allowed the Panama Canal to work so efficiently for more than a century is a sight to behold.

After visiting the Miraflores Locks, why not head to Panama City’s old town of Casco Viejo. It’s a 5000year-old historic site and the cultural heart of the country. During a day trip to the city you’ll have time to visit some great restaurants serving traditional Panamanian food, visit local bars and experience the Spanish colonial architecture.

Mexican Riviera
The Mexican Riviera will be the height of any visit to the Pacific coast. Sail to Cabo San Lucas and there are opportunities for whale watching as well as relaxing on one of the fine beaches in the area.

One of the highlights of your trip will undoubtedly be the boat rides in Cabo San Lucas. As you cruise along the coastline, you’ll have the chance to take in stunning views of the sea and the surrounding landscape.

Desert scenery serves as a backdrop to the beaches and you can explore the desert dunes in a 4×4 or on an ATV.

For something extra, hop on a boat to El Arco. Where St Lucas Bay meets the ocean you can see crystal clear waters and some dramatic rock formations.

Something else you might want to put on your agenda is a trip to Ensenada. There are some amazing wine tasting and vineyard tours available. As well as its reputation for viticulture. The area also some rich-culture that you can soak up by visiting a local exhibit or watching a live performance at the Riviera de Ensenada Cultural Center.

The Greek Islands
The Greek Islands are a place of endless beauty. Take a cruise to the Greek Islands and you’ll be able to visit ports such as Hydra, Zakynthos, Thessaloniki, and Chania as well as the popular islands of Santorini and Mykanos.

Hydra is one of the more unique Greek destinations and the island is packed with character. It’s completely car-free and has a bohemian and arty feel about it. If you want to get around, donkey is the only option if you don’t want to wear out your shoe leather.

Zante is another must-visit Greek island. There are some spectacular views of the sparkling blue ocean that you can enjoy from the tall limestone cliffs that ring the island. While you’re there, make sure to visit one of the many beachfront tavernas where you can savor a glass of crisp white wine and a plate of fresh seafood.
