Visiting Barcelona on a budget doesn't mean you have to miss out on the city's amazing attractions. From stunning architecture to delicious food, there are plenty of things to explore without spending a fortune. Here are our top five things to do in Barcelona on a budget.
1) Visit La Sagrada Familia
Pay a visit to the iconic masterpiece, La Sagrada Familia. Head up the steps and into the cathedral, and prepare for one of the most awe-inspiring buildings you will ever see. Gaudy in its beauty and grandeur, this church is worth every penny that it costs to enter. You can even take an audio tour or wander around at your leisure for an hour or so before having lunch at one of the nearby cafes outside.
2) Take a walk through Park Guell
Taking a walk through Park Guell is an experience that must be had. The public park designed by Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi in 1904, has become one of the most famous landmarks in Barcelona. Visitors can wander through the gardens and view some of Gaudi’s famous architectural creations, like the mosaic-tiled Gates of Hell and tree-lined Avenue of the Philosophers. The park is free and open daily from 8 am until 10 pm. You can access it by taking any city bus or metro line with a stop near the park entrance.
3) Explore Casa Batllo
Explore Casa Batllo with each room displaying an individual aesthetic, this building is worth a visit. Visitors will also be able to enjoy the architectural mastery of Gaudi and his contemporaries. If you’re interested in seeing more Gaudi architecture, the Sagrada Familia is the ideal destination for architecture lovers! Located only 10 minutes from Casa Batllo, it was still under construction at the time of writing this post. Make sure you budget for entrance fees into both sites!
4) Visit La Pedrera
Visit La Pedrera for free. One of the most iconic buildings designed by Antoni Gaudí, La Pedrera is always open to the public and there are tours available from 9am-3pm Monday-Friday and 9am-2pm Saturday. A ticket will cost you €11.50 (with discounts for students, children under 16 years old, seniors over 65 years old). La Sagrada Familia (La Sagrada Familia) is another one of his famous buildings which is both beautiful and impressive as well as relatively affordable. Tickets range from €14 to €25 with reductions for students and those under 25 years old.
5) See the Magic Fountain Show
See the Magic Fountain Show. At night, it's not uncommon to see people dancing and performing, or just sitting and relaxing near the water. If you're looking for something even more impressive, head over to Montjuïc Castle where you can watch some of Barcelona's most renowned dancers perform. Admission is free!
