Main Objective
The main objective of PROFIT in the Caribbean is to promote partnership and investment opportunities in the tourism industry sector by bringing together enterprises from the Caribbean and Europe.
- PROFIT in the Caribbean will identify a range of new business projects of particular interest to investors.
- In October 2004 a Partnership Meeting will be held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
- Up to 200 investors will be invited to attend this meeting that will offer a platform to discuss projects and to negotiate partnership agreements. The main focus of the event will be one to one meetings between European and Caribbean companies.
- Following the event up to 50 company projects demonstrating sound development potential will receive additional assistance from the PRO€INVEST programme to support the successful implementation of business agreements.
- PROFIT in the Caribbean 2004 is organised within the framework of PRO€INVEST, a programme of the ACP Group and the European Commission for the promotion of investment
Key Elements of the Programme
- Study of investment opportunities in the tourism sector in the Caribbean.
- Project identification and screening to select over 100 quality tourism business projects in the Caribbean.
- Partner identification and screening in Europe to select potential investors.
- Exchange of profiles and matching Caribbean and European interests.
- Scheduled one to one meetings between potential partners at PROFIT in the Caribbean Partnership Meeting in Jamaica.
- Access for participants to development and financial institutions, including the European Investment Bank (EIB), CDE and ACP-EU support programmes.
- Round tables, workshops and networking opportunities to debate topical issues.
- Comprehensive report on the tourism industry in the Caribbean highlighting sector development and investment opportunities. The report will be available via the PROFIT in the Caribbean website and on CD ROM.
- After the event up to 50 projects will benefit from the follow up of the PRO€INVEST Programme.
