A 24% increase in the number of travel bookings made to hotel properties in Israel

Expedia, Inc. released data showing a 24% increase in the number of travel bookings made to hotel properties in Israel on the more than 100 Expedia and Hotels.com sites worldwide during 2011. A majority of the international demand for travel on Expedia sites into Israel is coming from consumers in the U.S., the U.K., and France. The number of Israeli hotels that have partnered with Expedia has also grown nearly 10% over the past year.

“In light of today’s changing distribution landscape, it’s really imperative for hotels to utilize online channels like Expedia to maximize their international reach,” said Celia Casadome, director of market management for Expedia, Eastern Mediterranean. “By partnering with Expedia, hotels are featured on Expedia and Hotels.com sites in more than 60 countries, reaching more than 60 million consumers each month. That level of exposure is extremely valuable in helping a property to grow its presence among a new audience of travelers and drive incremental bookings.”

Expedia has operations throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as in Asia-Pacific, North America and South America. Its team includes hundreds of hotel relationship managers and revenue management specialists based in local markets to assist hotel partners in developing individualized distribution strategies.

Representatives from Expedia are in Tel Aviv this week attending the 18th annual International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM), where they plan to meet with members of the local hospitality community and share global and local travel trends and strategies for Israeli hotel owners and managers to maximize exposure and drive revenue in 2012.
