Andaz San Diego reveals $4 million makeover

The popular Gaslamp Quarter hotel captures the art and essence of its surroundings in a just-completed renovation.

SAN DIEGO – Andaz San Diego, a favorite in the vibrant Gaslamp Quarter, has unveiled its newly finished $4 million renovation. The completed design draws from the neighborhood’s rich culture of art, staking Andaz as the place for makers, doers and creators to connect, unwind and be inspired by local works.

“The Andaz redesign is about staying true to the essence of our neighborhood while bringing something amazing back to it,” said Shane Nicolopoulos, the newly appointed General Manager. “It’s about becoming a place where relaxation and inspiration can be found in equal measure.”

A Get-Together Go-To
Designed by the acclaimed Gensler firm, the reimagined Andaz boasts a chic new event space, “The Gallery,” intimate nooks for gathering, and amenity upgrades to all 159 rooms and suites. The new social spaces add to the existing 18,000 square feet of meeting spaces and are woven with local art to inspire those who gather.

Reinvigorated Rooms
The 142 guest rooms, 13 junior suites, and four lifestyle suites have been remade for comfort, yet are steeped in style. Features include luxury mattresses by Sealy, modern furniture, sumptuous lighting, couches that pull out for lounging, and richer carpet, tile and wood flooring. Guests will also enjoy original artwork in each of the rooms, making for a truly unique San Diego experience.

Art Everywhere
Every wall holds a surprise that can be taken in gallery style -with a walk- or simply enjoyed for the ambiance it creates while toasting with friends. Signature pieces include a mural by noted local photographer Christine Finkelson (known for exhibitions at the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art, Del Mar Art Center and The San Diego Museum of Art), a black and white abstract mural by San Diego street artist Kelsey Montague (known for her artwork in the recently unveiled Horton Plaza Park), a 12-foot tall giraffe sculpture, as well as an original piece by local artist and art gallery owner Alexander Salazar from his “Swirl/Pour Series." Works by other notable local artists such as Brittany Segal, David D’Andrade, and Robert Glick are also on display throughout the property.

You don’t need to be a guest to enjoy the Andaz San Diego art experience. Stop in at 600 F Street to walk the Gallery, settle in for cocktails and conversation with a friend or book your next meeting or event.
