Cabana raises $3mm to bring integrated travel experiences to markets nationwide

Campervans officially live for bookings in Austin market; Newly designed Mercedes Sprinter Van unveiled.

SEATTLE – Cabana, the modern, mobile hospitality company with a fleet of high quality, high-tech campervans, announced it raised $3MM in a funding round led by TechNexus Venture Collaborative. The new funding will go towards accelerating Cabana’s continued growth into markets across the U.S., and comes on the heels of expansions into San Francisco, California and Austin, Texas, announced earlier this year. Bookings out of Austin are officially available online, with the first trips set to embark on January 9, 2023.

Cabana also unveiled its newly redesigned 2-person campervan, built on the Mercedes Sprinter. This addition marks the most dynamic van in Cabana’s fleet, complete with an indoor kitchen, a convertible wet room, and an easy-to-use control panel for heat and hot water. The new vans will launch in the Austin market in January, with roll-outs into additional Cabana markets – including San Francisco, Seattle, and Los Angeles – over the course of 2023.

“Travel and exploration continued to rank high among America’s priorities in 2022, as demonstrated by the 8,177 nights booked with Cabana over the last year,” said Scott Kubly, Cabana CEO and founder. “We anticipate this desire – to hit the open road and create memorable experiences – to grow as we head into 2023. I have always had the travel bug; from spending my youth in Austin, exploring the hikes, swimming holes, and barbeque joints all over Texas to living in Seattle and taking advantage of all the wilderness the state has to offer. I’m eager to continue giving others the opportunity to get out and explore.”

This new round of funding marks one of several major milestones Cabana has achieved this year, underscoring the company’s aspiration to double down on growth and expansion. With new market launches, several newly designed campervans –including the Cabana Quad, a 4-person van set to go live in early 2023– and updates to the brand’s trip planning capabilities, Cabana is primed for success in fulfilling their vision of revolutionizing the future of connected travel.

After successfully partnering with Austin’s New Waterloo, Cabana also aims to utilize the capital from TechNexus to expand its partnership program, tapping more deeply into the travel and hospitality ecosystem to bring unique experiences to cities, residents, and travelers across the U.S. Future partnerships will leverage local expertise–blended with Cabana’s technology –to cater to the ever-changing demands of the industry.

“Cabana lowers the barrier to entry for a new segment of young and young at heart customers that desire a high-end ‘hotel on wheels’ adventure,” said Terry Howerton, Co-founder & CEO of TechNexus Venture Collaborative. “Collaboration with Cabana unlocks customer access, product insights, a new design thinking, and manufacturing/supply chain partnerships, which brings substantial strategic value to our Corporate Partners. Our team is eager to continue playing a role in Cabana’s growth journey and looks forward to supporting their launch into new markets.”

By merging accommodation with transportation, and through its hassle-free, personalized trip planning capabilities, Cabana is helping guests explore the road less traveled so they can make the most of their time.
