The Nobis Hospitality Group’s first foray outside Scandinavia.
BERLIN – With seven well-loved properties already in its portfolio, the Nobis Hospitality Group will further expand its collection this summer with the opening of Concepció by Nobis in Palma de Mallorca. Intimate, relaxed, and wearing a distinctly Mediterranean glamor, the property will be a southern beacon for the Swedish brand, which will apply its hallmark style to a historic building on the edge of the city’s Old Town. Designed in joint collaboration with longtime architecture partner Wingårdhs, alongside Spanish firms Jordi Herrero Arquitectos and Eduardo Garcia Acuna Arquitecto, the 31 room-hotel is set to be a year-round celebration of the Mallorcan capital, and a place where Scandinavian cool and sophisticated Spanish charm blend for an original experience.
Located in an exciting corner of Palma, where the Old Town meets the Santa Catalina district and the sea is just a stone’s throw away, the site of the new Concepció by Nobis is perfectly positioned to absorb the city’s many facets. Scheduled to open in June 2021, the property will present a social hub that beckons travelers and locals alike with amenities that will include a pool, an in-house restaurant, terraces, and a standout lounge. The 31 guestrooms and suites, which will range from standard single rooms to the Terrazza Room – featuring its own covered patio area – will each be delicately carved out of a frame that dates back to 1576, for a compelling merger of Palma’s past and present.
Taking cues from both the Mediterranean Sea and the green Tramuntana mountains for the color scheme, the designers will also apply an abundance of natural materials to the hotel’s spaces while also being acutely mindful of the history of the building, a former soap factory. Guestrooms will be accented with wood, leather, and wool alongside Carl Hansen’s ‘Cuba’ chairs, while public spaces are defined by the presence of custom-made tiling by Mallorcan brand Huguet against carefully restored pillars and beamed ceilings. Gardens, a gym (complete with sauna), a ‘chambré separée’ and meeting room, and a lively lobby will round out Concepció by Nobis’ multitude of spaces, and will fulfill its ambition to be a contemporary Palma spot in which to meet, dine, work, and rest.
