With a story weaved in silk, the 10 new suites and residences expand refined offerings of Grand Universe Lucca, Autograph Collection.
LUCCA, ITALY – An accompaniment to Grand Universe Lucca, the new Grand Universe La Residenza is poised to open June 1, 2023. The collection of 10 suites and residences pay homage to the storied heritage of Lucca and the noble Mansi family, while providing an upscale experience for today’s eclectic traveler.
With a history dating back to 1572, the three-story Grand Universe La Residenza – then called “Palazzo Mansi on Carrara Street” – was one of many properties that belonged to the Mansi family, one of the most successful silk merchants of the sixteenth century. The family home was passed down for generations and now begins its new chapter as an expansion of the Grand Universe Lucca hotel.
The rooms are named after the abundant flora and rich aromas of Lucca, including the Laurier, Lilas and Lavande junior suites; Melisse and Narcisse one-bedroom suites; Camelia two-bedroom suite; Jacinthe and Jasmin one-bedroom residences; and Thyme and Tulipe two-bedroom residences. The one- and two-bedroom residences include a fully equipped kitchen, and almost all spaces feature roomy living areas for entertaining and relaxation post-Lucca exploration.
Residences and suites range from 415 to 1,188 square feet and are adorned with welcoming silk curtains and silk upholstered chairs, as well as other decorative details and antique artifacts. Paying tribute to the Mansi family legacy and its silk heritage, the design thoughtfully blends a sophisticated and minimal aesthetic with contemporary amenities. The modern color palette features varying shades of neutrals and tans, complemented by deep terracotta orange, indigo blue, mustard yellow and forest green accents.
Guests of La Residenza receive exclusive access to The Majordomo – The Butler of La Residenza –alongside other amenities, including an in-room Nespresso machine, WiFi, air conditioning, flat screen TV, Bluetooth Speaker, and Molton Brown bath products.
“If the walls of Lucca could talk, they would have a million stories to tell,” said Georges Midleje, Regional Managing Director for Shaner Properties in Italy. “The city has been home to highly acclaimed poets, composers, and artists over the centuries, and we love that Grand Universe La Residenza weaves part of Lucca’s rich silk history into the present day. The kitchens, living areas and spacious rooms make it the ideal homebase for families or groups of friends to explore the enchanting city of Lucca. We look forward to sharing this gem with everyone.”
Grand Universe La Residenza also features two beautifully designed and fully equipped board rooms that are ideal for intimate meetings and business gatherings.
“While Shaner Group manages a diverse portfolio of more than 67 hotels worldwide, this being our third in Italy, Grand Universe La Residenza is a special enterprise to us,” said Plato Ghinos, president, Shaner Group. “This project signifies Shaner Group’s natural expansion into the luxury hospitality space, and we’re eager to see where else we can expand and grow our collection.”
