Holiday Inn Houston Reliant Park Area undergoes $2 m. in enhancements

Just re-launched, the Holiday Inn Houston Reliant Park Area is in the final stages of a $2-million program of upgrades. The enhancements will not only prepare the property for the upcoming fall and spring seasons, which will bring events ranging from Houston Texans football, The Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show with Paula Deen and the world’s largest livestock show and rodeo to adjacent Reliant Park, but are also part of a worldwide effort by Holiday Inn to update and improve products and services.

Formerly the Holiday Inn Houston South Loop, the name was recently changed to better reflect the increasingly desirable location. In addition to being the only hotel with direct pedestrian access into Reliant Park, the 238-room property offers six suites, an expansive pool area, one of the area’s largest ballrooms, bustling Sports Page Lounge, a boardroom with sweeping views of the city, daily shuttle service within a five-mile radius, plus convenient access to Houston’s expanding METRORail system with nearby stops at the Texas Medical Center, Rice University, Hermann Park and Museum District.

This phase of enhancement primarily targeted the look, feel and functionality of accommodations, as well as flooring and walls in public spaces. Key areas of change in the guestrooms, which feature two, distinctive decor styles, include the conversion of armoires to granite-topped bachelor chests, the installation of 32” LG Flat Panel HDTVs, new carpet and bedding. The new bedding includes sheets, throws, mattress toppers and pillows with an option of soft or firm styles. The bathrooms, which already feature dramatic granite counters and tub surrounds as part of a 2010 renovation, have been fitted with curved shower rods, adding 25% more space.

The hotel has completed carpeting upgrades; original, vinyl wall surfaces have been resurfaced and painted; and the 11th floor boardroom is being outfitted with new furniture.

According to newly hired Director of Sales & Marketing, James Ficalora, “We are excited about these enhancements, which we feel will continue to increase our appeal with visitors drawn to Houston by Reliant Park and the nearby Texas Medical Center, as well as groups who appreciate our convenient location, range of amenities, affordability and service levels.”

Additional property highlights include complimentary, high-speed wireless internet access, a fitness center, complimentary parking, business center services, more than 2,300 square feet of meeting space and Bayou Grille, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
