Homewood Suites by Hilton Springfield, Va. named "Top New Hotel of the Year"

Opened in 2013, the hotel is setting new standards as one of only nine Homewood Suites.

SPRINGFIELD, VA. – Concord Hospitality Enterprises announced that its Homewood Suites by Hilton in Springfield, Va., received three awards, including “Top New Hotel of the Year,” at the brand’s annual meeting and awards gala held recently at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Charlotte, N.C.

Opened in 2013, the hotel is setting new standards as one of only nine Homewood Suites to offer a full service lobby bar, outfitted with big-screen televisions where guests can linger over drinks with new friends and fellow travelers, in addition to a rooftop patio with outdoor grilling.

Chosen from a field of 369 hotels, Homewood Suites by Hilton Springfield, Va., also earned a “Connie Award,” named for Hilton founder, Conrad Hilton, and given to the 15 top-performing hotels as measured by customer satisfaction, loyalty and quality assurance scores. The Springfield team’s scores beat the brand’s national average by nearly 13 percentage points.

Hotel General Manager Christopher Tyner won the “General Manager of the Year Award of Merit” for the hotel’s superior performance, as well as its community leadership. Tyner began his hospitality career with Hilton 17 years ago, and under his direction since opening in 2013, Homewood Suites by Hilton Springfield, Va., has been a steadfast community partner serving as a collection point for food and coat drives, sponsoring outdoor movies in the summer, hosting Veteran’s groups and participating in Clean the World amenity recycling efforts and Concord’s annual Share Day event benefitting Feed the Children.

The Homewood Suites by Hilton brand is ranked highest in guest satisfaction among Upper Extended Stay Hotel Chains in J.D. Power’s 2014 North America Hotel Guest Satisfaction Index Study.

“Being named ‘New Hotel of the Year’ for the highest-ranked brand in its category means that the Homewood Suites Springfield, Va., is the best of the best,” said Mark Laport, president and CEO of Concord. “Not only does it stand out from others in its category because of its outstanding extra amenities, but Chris Tyner treats his staff like family, and in turn, they see their guests as extended members of the family. This kind of brand-wide recognition is a real testament to the quality of this hotel, Chris’ management style and the team’s commitment to their guests and their community.”

The Homewood Suites Springfield, Va., also is the winner of a 2014 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence Award and a 2014 Expedia Insiders’ Select Award, and received the 2014 Corporate Citizen Award from the Springfield Chamber of Commerce.

Located at 7010 Old Keene Mill Rd., in the quiet suburb of Springfield, Va., the hotel is within easy reach of Washington, D.C. attractions and offices including Army base Ft.
