Hyatt Ka’anapali Beach receives ACE Project of Excellence Award

Hyatt Ka’anapali Beach opened for occupancy in December 2014 in a prime oceanfront location on Maui, which is often referred to as the “Magic Isle” for its beautiful beaches, mountain vistas, spectacular golf, and cultural heritage.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Hyatt Vacation Ownership (HVO), an operating business of Interval Leisure Group (ILG), announced that its newest property, Hyatt Ka’anapali Beach, a Hyatt Residence Club Resort, received the American Resort Development Association’s prestigious 2015 ARDA Circle of Excellence (ACE) Domestic Project of Excellence award. The accolade recognizes a timeshare or mixed-use project built within the United States, and the judges consider design, sustainability, and impact on the local community.

Hyatt Ka’anapali Beach also took home top awards in two Resort Design categories: best site plan and resort architecture, and was a finalist in two others. The honors were conferred during a gala held at the recent ARDA World convention in Orlando.

Hyatt Ka’anapali Beach opened for occupancy in December 2014 in a prime oceanfront location on Maui, which is often referred to as the “Magic Isle” for its beautiful beaches, mountain vistas, spectacular golf, and cultural heritage. A joint venture with Host Hotels & Resorts Inc., the 131-unit, 4.5-acre property is one of 16 upscale shared-ownership resorts included in HVO’s Hyatt Residence Club.

“This exceptional new resort has been winning rave reviews from club members and guests,” said John Burlingame, president of HVO. “It’s very gratifying to know that our efforts and achievements are also recognized, appreciated, and so highly regarded by our industry peers.”

Hawaii’s unique cultural heritage is apparent in the resort’s architecture, site plan, and amenities, which were designed by Honolulu-based Group 70. Most units have ocean views of the island of Lanai, and all feature spacious lanais for enjoying the spectacular scenery. Among the on-site amenities are infinity and zero-entry swimming pools surrounded by lush tropical foliage, a fitness center, a day lounge, and the Lahaina Provision Company offering locally sourced groceries.

Design Group Carl Ross of El Segundo, California, created interiors that reference Hawaiian legends, such as two mosaic murals in the 8,000-square-foot, open-air lobby that depict Maui, the Sun God, snaring the sun (Kala), and pulling it back down into the sea. LEED certification requirements were met by both firms, incorporating a solar thermal-assisted hot water system, high efficiency air conditioning units with an energy management system, low-flow kitchen and bath fixtures, and other sustainability features.
