The 201-room hotel is expected to open its doors in the second half of 2024.

LONDON, UK – IHG Hotels & Resorts has entered into a franchise agreement with Mogotel and development partner Revelop, to mark IHG’s re-entry into Sweden with voco Stockholm Kista. This latest signing signifies IHG’s strong owner relationships and its commitment to growth in new and emerging markets such as Sweden, drawing on its scale of more than 780 open hotels across Europe.

voco hotels, IHG’s fastest-growing premium hotel brand with over 100 properties signed and opened globally, will mark the Group’s return to the Swedish market. voco hotels offers a premium experience to guests and combines the informality and charm of an individual hotel with the quality and reassurance of a global and respected brand. The announcement follows a number of signings and openings for voco hotels across Europe in the first nine months of 2023, which saw it reach nearly 40* open and signed properties in markets including France, Spain, the UK&I, Austria, Portugal, and Belgium.

Mrs Willemijn Geels, VP Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, commented: “We have seen significant growth momentum with our voco hotels brand since it launched in 2018 and this signing reinforces that we are on our way to reaching the brand’s global ambition of 200 properties in leading urban and leisure locations by 2028. The brand commands top guest satisfaction scores thanks to its individual charm and character, and its conversion-friendly design and operational framework allows owners to bring their unique visions to its properties.
This milestone signing would not have been possible without our real estate partner Revelop as well as operating partner Mogotel – with whom this is another hotel signing with in recent months, following the announcement of Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale. We look forward to continuing to build a strong relationship with both partners as we explore new opportunities in the Nordics.”

voco Stockholm Kista will be strategically located in the northern region of Stockholm, in Kista, dubbed as Sweden’s Silicon Valley – home to the largest Information and Communications Technology (ICT) cluster in Europe. The hotel will be situated adjacent to the Nordic Forum – one of Kista’s largest office redevelopments as well as telecoms company Ericssons Global Headquarters – making voco Stockholm Kista, with its five personalised meeting and events space options, the ideal location for business travellers.

The 201-room property will be complete in late 2024, with a restaurant and lobby bar where guests can come together to recharge, connect, work or celebrate. voco Stockholm Kista will also have a well-equipped fitness room and a tranquil rooftop spa with an indoor swimming pool, as well as a stunning rooftop garden, providing guests with exceptional views of northern Stockholm to help them unwind and relax.

Thomas Sipos, CEO of Revelop commented: “With the voco hotel, in partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts and Mogotel, we are delighted to be able to bring a new kind of guest experience to Stockholm Kista. With its sustainable profile we see the voco concept as a strong addition to Nordic Forum and a perfect match with our Revelop values. With IHG’s scale, experience, and proven reputation in the industry, alongside the voco hotels brand’s high popularity with guests, we have no doubt that voco Stockholm Kista will become one of the most sought-after destinations in Northern Stockholm.”

Ivans Dokicans, Chairman of the Board at Mogotel Development Holding, Head of development added: “Entering the Swedish market is a major step forward for Mogotel. We are thankful for our partners’ trust as we embark on this journey. Our focus is now on growth and establishing a strong presence in Stockholm and across Sweden.”

“This project marks a significant milestone for us,” says Sabine Krievina, Member of the board, Director of Project Management at Mogotel Development Holding. “It’s not just a new venture in Stockholm and Sweden; it’s a new and exciting chapter in our story, as we start our cooperation with IHG Hotels & resorts. We’re thrilled about the opportunity to bring the unique character of the voco brand into this dynamic city and look forward to making our mark in the heart of Stockholm.”

voco Stockholm Kista will build on IHG Hotels & Resorts presence in the Nordics, which includes Crowne Plaza Hotel Copenhagen Towers in Denmark, as well as a portfolio of seven hotels in Finland*.
