106-room hotel will open to guests on April 1st.

KEY WEST, FL – The newest addition to Key West’s hotel market is bringing a slice of Hemingway’s Havana to America’s Southernmost island. Havana Cabana, a 106-room waterfront hotel opening on April 1st, will transport guests back to Havana’s glory days, complete with mojito-fueled pool parties, island tours behind the wheel of a ’57 Chevy, and day trips to Cuba, just 90 miles south. Room reservations are now available, with rates beginning at $199 per night.

The immersive Havana Cabana experience will begin as soon as guests arrive and are greeted by a classic 1957 Chevy – standing watch outside the hotel’s entrance. The escape to historic Cuba continues inside, where Spanish guitar music and the scent of homemade Cuban pastries fill the air.

Havana Cabana’s guest rooms are centered around Key West’s largest pool, a tropical oasis which will play host to live music and DJs on weekends, making it one of the most sought-after destinations on the island. Mojitos Pool Bar, open after hours, will serve 25 versions of Cuba’s legendary rum cocktail. Authentic Cuban cuisine will be served from the hotel’s Floridita Food Truck, offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Cuban-inspired menu will feature everything from cafe con leche and croquetas, to the famous Cuban sandwich. On-site amenities will include a fitness center, business center and boardroom, gift shop and a courtyard large enough to host weddings and private events.

“Key West’s history and natural beauty draw visitors from around the world, while Cuba’s mid-century heritage has captivated artists, writers and historians for generations,” said Mark Vose, Havana Cabana’s general manager. “The Havana Cabana concept celebrates the historic charm of our island neighbor to the south, while offering guests a chance to explore Key West’s authentic character. The result will be a guest experience that’s enchanting, surprising, and downright fun.”

Guests can select from a wide variety of room options, including the Malecon King, Havana Queen and Pilar Studio, offering pool or gulf views from lanais or balconies. Each room will feature a decorative canvas inspired by the graffiti art on display in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District, as well as tropical decor and furnishings.

“Our executives have spent three decades building memories in Key West and decided to create a unique resort to celebrate that relationship. The Havana Cabana concept will blend the spirit and fun of the Conch Republic with the excitement of Havana nights,” said Mark W. Brugger, President and CEO of DiamondRock Hospitality Company.

As part of Havana Cabana’s grand opening specials, guests who reserve a room at least seven days in advance will save up to $30 off the nightly rate. During the hotel’s grand opening period, through April, Havana Cabana is also offering a daily discount of up to $40, plus a complimentary cocktail. Guests can add the Floridita Breakfast for $10 more that includes deluxe accommodations plus breakfast for two people.

For the ultimate Havana Cabana experience, the hotel is teaming up with Our Key West tours to offer guests a one-day trip to Cuba, inclusive of round-trip, same-day airfare, a guided walking tour of Old Havana, and a lunch stop at a historic fishing village frequented by Ernest Hemingway.

For visitors who prefer to explore the local attractions on their own, the resort provides shuttle service, bicycle and vintage Vespa rentals. Complimentary parking is available on property.
