Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort did the UAE proud in London, winning top honors in two categories at World Travel Awards (WTA), which celebrates excellence in the global tourism industry.
The East Coast getaway walked away with the ‘Middle East’s Leading Beach Resort’ trophy and also captured the award for ‘Middle East’s Leading Presidential Suite’ at a ceremony held at the Royal Opera House.
“Having been nominated alongside some of the finest hotels and resorts in the Middle East, winning not one, but two major World Travel Awards, is truly an honor and privilege and we’d like to thank all our customers for their unwavering support,” said Patrick Antaki, general manager, Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort.
“This achievement is indicative of our rapid growth and strong foothold in the industry and firmly establishes Le Meridien Al Aqah’s place on the international hospitality map,” he added.
The World Travel Awards, billed as the premier global awards event in the travel industry calendar, have been running for 12 years. The awards are decided by votes cast by travel professionals from 80,000 travel agencies in over 190 countries, with candidates for nomination based upon the previous year’s voting.
“When we opened our doors just under three years ago, we never anticipated how quickly we would attract visitors to Al Aqah, a previously untapped region. Earlier this year, the hotel was applauded at the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and DEPA Travel Awards for its contribution to regional hospitality.
