Maslina Resort announce the appointment of Richard Thorburn as its new PR manager. Richard has spent several years in the Middle East, leading the Marketing and Communications strategies for some of the most luxurious resorts in the region, including Jumeirah, Six Senses, and most recently for InterContinental where he opened their new flagship resort in Ras Al Khaimah as Director of Marketing and Communications. With a passion for writing creative and impactful content, Richard is responsible for bringing resort stories to life, working with PR agencies around the world.
Originally from Manchester, UK, Richard started his career as a freelance journalist, writing for a variety of different publications. Before moving to the Middle East, he spent two years leading the PR strategy for Manchester Central, one of Europe’s largest convention centres, and has also worked as an advisor for a number of government bodies.
“Having come from a journalism background, I know what stories media outlets are interested in, and how to pitch them to get the best possible coverage. My experience in hospitality spans multiple international brands, where I’ve worked on PR campaigns, digital strategies, social media strategies, and everything in between. I’ll be bringing the best practice from them all to help share the story of Maslina.
