Munich based startup Select Green Hotels has been crowned Most Sustainable OTA at the European tourism sustainability award "GrINN Awards 2022".

Organised by Quartz Inn Hotels, -the first European hotel group made up of independent and sustainable properties- the GrINN Awards 2022 reward excellence in European sustainable tourism, with the main objective of promoting sustainable and responsible practices in the sector. Hundreds of accommodations, companies and tourism leaders from 28 European countries have participated in this edition in its 50 categories.

Select Green Hotels launched in September 2021, on World Tourism Day. To be listed on the site, properties are vetted for their environmentally friendly use of materials and resources, social commitment, and the preservation of nature and culture of the respective region. They have created its own 8 sustainability criteria for which it checks its partner hotels. Sustainable initiatives of these hotels are displayed transparently on the website.

Isabelle Winter commented: “We’ve noticed that despite amazing sustainable hotel projects, popping up everywhere, it is tough to find them online. We decided to close this gap by creating an accurate selection of eco-conscious hotels. Thus, giving hoteliers the visibility they deserve and making it easier for the discerned traveler to find them”.

Their website runs on green energy. Each booking made is matched with a tree planted in collaboration with a local German forester.

Alexander Zawadzki, the award's organiser commented on Wednesday from the World Travel Market in London: “Our most sincere congratulations to the team at Select Green Hotels for their great work promoting sustainable stays. They are doing an outstanding job and truly deserve this
award.

We invite all companies and tourism leaders that are making sustainable progress to apply to our next edition and encourage other people to be more environmentally conscious."
