Ruben Sabater was appointed director of operations for Marenas Beach Resort, Ed Riley general manager for Stonewall Resort, and Juan R. Vicioso, Jr., director of sales & marketing for The Heldrich.
THE WOODLANDS (HOUSTON), TEXAS – Benchmark, a global hospitality company, has appointed Ruben Sabater director of operations for Marenas Beach Resort, a Gemstone Collection property located in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. Rikki Boparai, managing director, made the announcement.
"I am so pleased to welcome Ruben back to Benchmark,” said Mr. Boparai. “Not only is he well-versed in Benchmark’s ‘Be The Difference’ service culture, he has intimate knowledge of the local and regional markets, which will be invaluable to our hotel.”
Ruben Sabater was previously general manager of The Sherry Frontenac Resort of Miami Beach, Florida. Prior to this appointment he worked with the Benchmark organization as regional engineering and facilities consultant, and earlier as director of operations for One Bal Harbour Resort & Spa, which Benchmark operated at the time.
Prior to joining Benchmark, Mr. Sabater held leadership roles with the Mandarin Oriental Miami (director of engineering) as well as the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Tower. He resides in Miami.
Also, Benchmark has named Ed Riley general manager for Stonewall Resort, a Benchmark Resorts & Hotels property located in Roanoke, West Virginia. Greg Champion, president of Benchmark, made the announcement.

A veteran hotel executive with over three decades of senior leadership experience, Ed Riley was most recently general manager of Costa d’Este Beach Resort & Spa, the Gloria and Emilio Estefan-owned resort in Vero Beach, Florida, and a member of Benchmark’s Gemstone Collection.
Mr. Riley has previously served as general manager of the historic, 350-acre Cranwell Spa & Golf Club located in Lenox, Massachusetts, and in the same leadership position at the legendary 1200-acre Equinox Golf Resort & Spa of Manchester Village, Vermont.
Ed Riley is a graduate of Western New England College, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He is relocating to the Roanoke area.
Finally, the company has named Juan R. Vicioso, Jr., director of sales & marketing for The Heldrich, a Benchmark Resorts & Hotels property located in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Stacy Thaler Martin, general manager, made the announcement.

Juan Vicioso brings to The Heldrich 20 years of hospitality experience with a focus on sales and marketing. For the past 12 years he has been a sales leader with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, concentrating on the New York City market, including serving as director of catering and convention services for the W New York and associate director of catering for the Westin Times Square. While with Starwood, Mr. Vicioso received five Top Sales Incentive Awards and with his team won the Starwood Sales Team of the Year for both 2006 and 2014. Earlier in his hospitality career, Vicioso worked in sales leadership positions for properties in Washington, DC. He launched his career at New York’s Waldorf Astoria.
Mr. Vicioso is a second generation hotelier, as his father worked with such legendary properties as New York’s Essex House and the Plaza Hotel, as well as the Casa de Campo in the Dominican Republic. Juan Vicioso is a graduate of the University of Southern New Hampshire where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He resides in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
Vicky is the co-founder of TravelDailyNews Media Network where she is the Editor-in Chief. She is also responsible for the daily operation and the financial policy. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Tourism Business Administration from the Technical University of Athens and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wales.
