New Otolo Careers Club uses mentoring to improve the recruiting process

Otolo Founder and CEO, James Lemon.

A new and unique hospitality careers website that incorporates mentoring to ensure employers recruit the right candidates has launched on Tuesday 25 May.

Otolo is a new social mentoring platform with a mission to get hospitality thriving again following the damage caused to the industry by the Covid-19 pandemic. Otolo has launched Otolo Careers Club, offering mentoring and support for candidates at the heart of its process. Major hospitality employers are already listing their roles on Otolo Careers Club, including Hilton Hotels and Hyatt

Since its full launch in April, Otolo has grown to more than 1,200 active members with numbers growing at 100 new members a week. The Otolo community is a concentrated pool of passionate hospitality people, at all stages of their careers, actively pursuing and improving their skills and career prospects.

As the hospitality industry starts to re-open again following the global pandemic, hospitality organisations and recruiters need to hire the right people in the right roles, quickly and economically.

Otolo Careers Club is free for employers and recruiters to post their vacancies. The skilled Otolo team then scout its growing network for the perfect candidates. Otolo will support its candidates through the recruitment process offering them mentoring and advice from more than 100 industry professional mentors and the wider Otolo community.

Employers pay when they recruit an Otolo member for their vacancy. Recruitment costs are on a sliding scale based on the salary of the role, starting from as little as £250. Otolo Careers Club offers hiring organisations greater certainty in the recruitment process as well as being significantly cheaper than traditional alternatives.

Otolo Careers Club has launched with more than 50 roles advertised, from many key employers in the sector including Hilton, Hyatt, Accor, Shangri-La, Claridge’s and The Connaught. A variety of roles are on offer from Baristas at 200 Degrees Coffee, General Manger at Highland Hospitality, Sales, Marketing and Social Media Executive at Hilton, Revenue Manager at Hilton and Director of Sales at Shangri-La.

Otolo Founder and CEO, James Lemon, said: “Otolo Careers Club makes it possible for the hospitality industry to hire from a community of skilled, job-ready hospitality professionals that are passionate and focused on a bright future in our industry.

“I am delighted with the response from the hospitality industry to Otolo Careers Club. Employers have really embraced the benefit of mentoring and support for candidates in the recruitment process. As the industry starts to rebuild from the detrimental impact of the Covid-19 pandemic recruiting the right person for the right role has never been more important.”

Otolo, where hospitality flows, evolved from a pro-bono online mentoring platform offering support to peers and younger professionals who were out of work, furloughed, or working in a fast-changing situation. After being awarded a UK Government grant to develop into a full service, the team – all left out of work or furloughed due to the pandemic – is on a mission to support the hospitality industry and benefit workers globally at all levels in an ever-increasingly competitive job market.
