Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel completes Phase One of two-Part, $7m. renovation

The entire refurbishment process is expected to be complete by September 2017.

PORTLAND, ORE. – Officials of the 212-room Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel in Portland, Ore., announced that the hotel has completed the first phase of a two-part, $7 million renovation. Phase One included a complete, top-to-bottom renovation of all guest rooms and suites, while Phase Two will completely transform the hotel’s lobby, signature restaurant, extensive function space and popular amenities. The entire refurbishment process is expected to be complete by September 2017.

“Once completed, the ongoing renovation of the Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel will bring the hotel to ‘like-new’ status, creating the freshest product to enter the market in 20 years,” said Michael Daley, general manager. “Today’s travelers seek experiential travel, and we believe this renovation will address and enhance the overall guest experience, incorporating local touches while remaining true to all that the Sheraton brand has to offer.”

Located on the grounds of Portland International Airport (PDX) at 8235 NE Airport Way, the five-story hotel is convenient to both downtown Portland, Ore., and Vancouver, Wash., as well as scenic Mount Hood. Guests can relax in the hotel’s indoor heated pool, jacuzzi or sauna or exercise in the 24-hour fitness center.  The hotel also provides a fully equipped business center and 17 meeting rooms boasting 22,500 square feet of flexible, state-of-the-art meeting space. Opened in 1974, the hotel serves more than 500,000 guests and hosts more than 1,000 business meetings and events annually and serves 700 meals a day.

Guest rooms have been entirely transformed with a designer’s touch. All rooms now feature the all-new Sheraton Signature Beds and marble countertops, as well as contemporary artwork and furnishings. Thoughtful enhancements, including numerous charging stations throughout the room and new headboards with read lamps, have been added to enhance the guest experience further.

“With Phase One complete, the renovation now will focus on the remainder of the hotel,” Daley noted. “From a complete redesign of the lobby and meeting space to the introduction of a brand-new restaurant that will focus on local cuisine, we are embracing the hotel’s Oregon heritage as part of what makes this hotel unique. Preliminary feedback already has been overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to sharing our completed vision with the community in short order.”

Dining options will include the all-new Rose & Compass restaurant and bar, an updated lobby coffee shop serving Starbucks coffee and grab-and-go items, and NorthStar, a chic private event space perfect for small holiday parties, rehearsal dinners and other celebrations. Rose & Compass will focus on the bounty of Oregon, inviting guests to enjoy the multitudes of offerings available in the area. Featuring local farms, ranches and vineyards, guests will enjoy a culinary exploration of the region. Wine pairings, a “Curated Classics” cocktail program and elevated menu offerings will culminate in a dining experience to be enjoyed and remembered.
