A unique opportunity for students to train and secure jobs with leading hotel group

Taylor’s University and Hilton Worldwide sign STEP partnership

Taylor’s University and Hilton Worldwide signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to collaborate on a Student Employment Programme (STEP) that offers top students at Taylor’s University School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts (TCHT) the unique opportunity to be a part of one of the world’s leading hotel groups before they even graduate.

This one-of-a-kind partnership provides aspiring students from TCHT with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to train with Hilton Worldwide, while providing this leading hotel group with an avenue to map its long-term recruitment plans and secure future talents.

The signatories of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), which was signed at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus, were Mr. Pradeep Nair, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Taylor’s University, and Mr. William Costley, Vice President of Operations Southeast Asia, Hilton Worldwide, with Mr. Neethiahnanthan Ari Ragavan, Dean of TCHT and Mr. Brendan Toomey, Vice President of Human Resources, Asia Pacific, Hilton Worldwide signing as witnesses.

During his welcome address, Mr Pradeep Nair said all students should make full use of this golden opportunity and apply to the programme.

“This partnership gives our students a priceless opportunity to be part of one of the world’s leading hotel chains, with the possibility of securing employment with them later on. As such, the selected students under the STEP programme not only gain the best in hospitality education from us, but will also be trained by one of the biggest and most well-recognised names in the industry – Hilton Worldwide.

This is why we believe that the STEP programme is truly beneficial, as it grooms our students to become ‘global graduates’ and compete with the best of the best, in the world. This truly exciting partnership also resonates closely with our new mission, to be the Top Employers’ Top Choice University,” said Pradeep.

Mr. William Costley, Vice President of Operations Southeast Asia, Hilton Worldwide said, “Hilton Worldwide aims to be the preeminent hospitality company worldwide.  In order to achieve this, we need to attract and train talent to be able to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

“Partnering with Taylor’s University gives us access to best-in-class talent, and in developing their skills, we hope to position ourselves as an employer of choice, not only to them, but also to other individuals who have a keen interest in hospitality.”

Under the STEP Partnership, Hilton Worldwide will adopt a class of students who are pursuing Bachelor of International Hospitality Management (Hons), Bachelor of Tourism Management (Hons) and Bachelor of Culinary Arts and Foodservice Management (Hons) who will be carefully selected by both Taylor’s and Hilton Worldwide. The STEP students, while undergoing the bachelor degree curriculum, will also take specially designed training sessions, workshops and seminars designed by Hilton Worldwide.

Additionally, the students will be given opportunities to attend four to six months of industrial trainings in various properties managed by Hilton Worldwide and potentially secure a job offer.
